What is RSS?

RSS stands for either "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary." It's basically a list of headlines and short descriptions that can easily be used by another program or Web site. Like the Web or e-mail, it's one more way for you to quickly get the information you need -- but without some of the information-overload drawbacks of those other media.

RSS Software

There are many programs that receive and read RSS files, or feeds, often called news aggregators or news readers. A few examples follow, but many others exist:

Mac OS XNetNewsWirehttp://ranchero.com/netnewswire/
