Episode 43: Obama Administration Takes On Teacher Training

Despite what its name suggests, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act—formerly known as No Child Left Behind—includes some provisions that matter a great deal to colleges and universities. Now, with the legislation up for renewal, Libby Nelson and Sara Hebel examine how the Obama administration wants to change the act's language on teacher training and college-preparedness standards.

Kelly Field, The Chronicle's chief Washington reporter, and Sara Hebel, our politics editor, spend a minute (or so) each week discussing the key higher-education debates and behind-the-scenes maneuvering taking place in the nation's capital. Other Chronicle reporters and special guests will be filling in for Kelly Field while she is on family leave. Look for new episodes every Tuesday.
