Astronomers Create Map of Dark Matter

Using a telescope perched atop a Hawaiian volcano, an international team of astronomers has created the first large-scale map of dark matter -- the mysterious material that makes up some 90 percent of the universe.

"I would call this a breakthrough," says Greg Fahlman, director of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea, where the team made its observations. "It's a way of looking at the distribution of dark matter in a way that's not been possible
